Featured Online Class: Protect Your Money, Credit, and Identity

Fort Greene SNAP is pleased to announce the launch of a new online, instructor-led course named ”Protect Your Money, Credit, and Identity.” This class starts Wednesday, July 20th and Aug 20.

Participants in this course will learn to spot the scams and rip-offs that can cost them money or ruin their credit. They will explore threats including identity theft, Internet and credit card scams, and deceptive sales practices. In addition, they will learn how to slow down or stop a foreclosure, and how to end harassing phone calls from debt collectors.

Kid’s don’t come with a manual (or else, I lost mycopy). In this workshop we’ll be getting together with parents of children at many different ages, and we’ll be talking about different stages of development every child goes through. Come compare notes and learn what to expect and what to look forward to. Terri Ball, our favorite Parenting Advocate, will be leading this discussion. Workshop will be held at SNAP in our classroom @ 1pm on Tuesday October 25th.

Empowered Parent: Stressed, Are You?

This happening to you? Aches and pains, palpitations and dizziness, digestive problems, grinding your teeth, insomnia, breathing difficulties, feeling tired, frequent infections.

These are some of the physical symptoms of stress. Come to our next workshops at 1pm on October 12th and 19th – our Parenting Advocate Terri L. Ball will be leading a discussion on Stress: Causes and Cures. We had a great discussion the last time we had this workshop, so we’re expanding it to two days so we can share as much info as we can. Come join a great group of parents as we learn about ways to reduce stress, and share your knowledge.

As a parent, what do you do to avoid stress?

This is a hands on class where we will find blogs in our interest area, discover what kind of content is out there, and how to find our niche in the blogging world. We’ll actually set up our own blogs, learn how to create regular and interesting blog posts, how to get people to read our blogs. We’ll also discuss “monetizing” our blog, (yeah, I know, it’s always about making money with me).
