New class starts soon – Wednesday, January 20, 2010

We’ve all heard about blogs – now lets take a close look at why blogging has swept the internet, and how we can get in on the excitement. This is a hands on class where we will find blogs in our interest area, discover what kind of content is out there, and how to find our niche in the blogging world. We’ll actually set up our own blogs, learn how to create regular and interesting blog posts, how to get people to read our blogs. We’ll also discuss “monetizing” our blog, (yeah, I know,  it’s always about making money with me). We’ll also have local bloggers talk to us about how they got started, dos and don’ts, and their take on the world of blogging today.

This class will run 4 sessions on Wednesday evenings starting Jan 20 from 6pm to 8pm. We’ll have snacks =)

Cost: $25 including materials

@Internet and Social Media

New classes start in January 15 1pm to 3pm (reserve your seat by calling 718-694-6957)

Continuing our workshops on using the Internet and all the cool stuff you can find there! Email will be our focus, as it relates to social bookmarking, podcasting, videos, ways to make money online, VOIP (voice over internet telephony).

This class will run 6 sessions on Fridays and meets from 1pm to 3pm.

@Computer Basics

Two new classes start

Thursday January 14,  10 to 12   and

Thursday January 21, 1pm to 3pm

(reserve your seat for either one by calling 718-694-6957)

This is a basic computer class, and when I say basic I mean BASIC! It means we’ll start with a review of hardware, then continue with how to log on, how to use the start menu and the free programs that come with the Windows operating system, including Internet Explorer. If you haven’t had the opportunity to use computers before, or need to fill the gaps in your knowledge, this is the place for you! We will cover exactly what you need to know to start using a computer to open any program, save your work properly, use email and the internet.

This class will run 6 sessions on Thursdays and meets from 1pm to 3pm
